10% of City Public School Children Were Homeless Last Year

This informative article in The New York Times says that recently-released data shows an increase of homeless students in New York City public schools.  A startling one-tenth of the city’s one million public school children were homeless at some point during the last school year.

Students who are considered homeless live in shelters, cars, hotels or in someone else’s home.
