City Moving Forward with ‘Bronx Plan’ for Schools

(Adobe Stock)

On Friday, Mayor de Blasio and Schools Chancelor Carranza came to the Bronx to announce that the Bronx Plan, a revitalization program for 50 Bronx schools that was negotiated as part of the teacher’s union contract in the fall, is moving forward.

One sticking point, as reported by Chalkbeat, is a complaint from the principals union about being left out of the negotiations that developed the plan.

Nonetheless, the Mayor beamed over the prospects for raises for administrative staff, stronger decision-making power for teachers, and greater collaboration with school leadership so that school programs would be less cookie-cutter and more custom-designed for individual schools.

The article lists the 32 Bronx schools to be included in the plan (the others are in Brooklyn and Queens).
