On Thursday thisistheBronX got a first look at the Bronx Zoo’s enchanting Dinosaur Safari that is sure to delight children and their parents from the moment it opens on Friday, April 19 through its closing in November.

We rode the same open-back truck for the narrated ride that safari-goers will enjoy and got close-up to the dozens of 66 million year-old creatures that come to life in their animatronic incarnation at the zoo.

Fossils for the Parasaurolophus were discovered in the US and Canada where they likely lived 76-73 million years ago.

Zoo officials say this is the most realistic dinosaur ride in the nation and judging from the roars, growls, and screeches that pepper the safari, that would be hard to doubt.

The Pentaceratops traveled in herds 75-73 million years ago.

At the end of the ride there’s an ADA-accessible fossil digging area for children to experience first-hand what paleontologists discover and they’ll also get close-up to models of dinosaur bones.
