Grand Concourse Median to Be Extended

In an effort to make the Grand Concourse safer, there are now plans to extend the median. News 12 the Bronx reported that the work is welcomed by residents, given the danger they face in trying to cross it.

The Department of Transportation’s program, Vision Zero, plans to build six extensions, with a focus between 140th-150th Streets. The move will also include ramps and new traffic light poles.

The project, which will begin in the spring, has been labelled as a priority. The DOT reported four deaths along the Grand Concourse between 2010-2017.
