For Sale: Joe’s Place Can’t Compete With Rising Rent

Untapped Cities profiles renowned chef Joe Torres’s life and career, which he dedicated to bringing the most authentic Puerto Rican cuisine to the Bronx.

Torres opened his famous restaurant Joe’s Place 20 years ago and has served people like musicians Marc Anthony, Tito Nieves, and even the former leader of Cuba, the late Fidel Castro.

But due to increasing rent, lack of employees, and failed projects like
merchants association group ‘Salsa Row’, according to the article, Torres is now planning to sell the restaurant.
