The dictionary definition of a Luau is: “a Hawaiian party or feast, especially one accompanied by entertainment” and that’s exactly what’s coming to Villa Maria Academy. On Sunday, June 23 from 12:00pm – 5:00pm there will be a Luau Soiree, a people party for Bronx families, yes with entertainment, but most importantly with ways for children and their moms and dads to have what organizer MAS Productions called, “a play date.”
For example, mommy and daughter will be able to get their nails done together, daddy and daughters can get manicures together, take pictures of each other, and much more. There will also be games and activities, things like Limbo (how low can you go?), etc.
“The whole idea is helping people feel good,” Jackie Acevedo from MAS Productions told thisistheBronX. “It’s about families learning about each other, learning confidence, bonding, communicating with each other, and exploring their relationships. It’s really a nice way for families to kick off the summer.”
There will be raffles provided by K-Mart and giveaways, too, bags with lotions and soaps, and of course Hawaiian Leis.
In addition to all the family fun, Acevedo says the Luau Soiree is good for the local Bronx economy.
“A lot of small businesses show up and promote their unique products and services so they also get a chance to grow and build their client base,” she said. “Me being a business owner, I understand the need of everyone getting out there.”
