On Saturday February 23 from 11:00am – 2:00pm Villa Maria Academy on Country Club Road will be turning a winter wonderland into a summer festival with a massive Summer Camp Expo designed to give parents a head start and a leg up on planning for their children’s summer.
The event will be filled with camp options and camp staffs so that parents can make smart choices for their children. The range of camps represented will be impressive, including camps and activities for educational enrichment.
Mike Halpern, Director of the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center’s camp that will be represented at the Expo, explained to thisistheBronX that in reality, this is not just about the summer of ’19, but sending a child to camp has lifelong impact.
“The whole social and emtoinal impact of camps is making a group work together,” he said, “and as a result they build these incredible friendships that are not necessarily with kids they’ve grown up with or in the same neighborhood, but with kids they don’t always have something in common with. It’s amazing so see, commonaities really start to come out.”
The Summer Camp Expo is being produced by MAS Productions, a Bronx based marketing and event planing company because they recognize the need for information. “There are needs and gaps in communication”, said MAS Preisdent Jacqueline Villanueva. “We want to bring parents and organizations with important services together.”
Camp costs are, of course, also a factor and the Expo will provide many options, incuding scholarships.
“”You’re offering your children an experience they carry with them for the rest of their lives,” Halpern said and he emphasized that for the Mosholu Day Camp, as well as for many others, the Expo is well-timed because camp registrations are open NOW!
