On Tuesday, June 19 from 12noon-6pm Nestor Lebron will dedicate his shop, The Barber Factory, to helping Bronx men get healthier. As part of Men’s Health Month, the ten year-old barber shop at 4131 Laconia Avenue will run a day-long Men’s Health Event with screenings, health information, and even fresh juices to help Bronx men realize that their health is important. Statistics show that urban men are not going to the doctor and that helps to account for a mortality rate that’s five-years lower than women.
“At the barber shop is where the men hang out and gossip,” Lebron said on BronxNet’s BronxTalk this week, “and we talk about things you normally woudn’t outside. So bringing this event will help the health awareness for the guys.”
