What’s the Status of Bronx Affordable Housing?

Multi-Housing News has an informative analyisis of Bronx affordable housing in an interview with the CEO of MDB Communiy Housing Corp., a company that specializes in affordable housing.

Derrick Lovett characterizes affordable housing stock in the Bronx as a crisis, citing a 1% vacancy rate and a four-year waiting list. Driving the difficulties in developing affordable housing, Lovett says, is the cost and inventory of available land.

To alleviate the problem, he says, developers have to continue to focus on mixed-income projects.

    Not everyone qualifies, trying since 2007, cannot get in affordable housing. Work all my life and a Bronx resident for 62 yrs, SMH retirees do not get a break does not cut it is there a web site to assist us.
