Which Agency Is Responsible For Fixing Potholes?

The Riverdale Press documents one resident’s struggle to get potholes filled at the Spuyten Duyvil Metro-North station, who instead received a multi-agency Kafkaesque runaround.

Valerie Katz contacted Metro-North to fix potholes on the station’s parking lot, but they told her they couldn’t do anything because the land belongs to the city, so she contacted the MTA who sent her back to Metro-North.

It wasn’t until multiple agencies and officials were called that the DOT finally sent workers.

This is not a unique problem the Press says because private roads make it difficult to decide which agency is responsible for fixing a particular area.
