Students from the south Bronx painted a mural in a creative way to educate people about climate change. An article from Grist features the young artists who created the artwork outside the International Community High School on Brook Avenue that focuses on nature on one side and factories and smokestacks on the other.
Teenagers, under the leadership of Patricia Melodia Lewis, illustrated the best of nature–including bright sunny skies and clean grass–and the worst of pollution, complete with hazy skies and industrial takeover.
Though the project can be seen as gloomy as the gray of the haze, while painting it, the students were happy and hopeful that humanity will choose the right path to a cleaner future.
The Climate Museum and YUCA Arts will host a dedication of the mural on Thursday.
