The 61st Grammy Awards were held Sunday night, and rapper Cardi B. was the big Bronx winner, making history along the way. She became just the second woman to ever win the award for Best Rap Album, and the first solo female act to ever do so. Lauryn Hill previously won the award as a member of The Fugees.
The award is also a personal record for Cardi B., winning her first Grammy Award as a 26-year-old artist. It also marked the second big moment for her of the night, as she had just officially reconciled with her husband, Offset.
In just two years, Cardi B. has gone from a stripper looking to save $20,000 for an apartment to an international rap icon, worth over $8 million. She was also named one of Time’s most influential people in 2018.
