With the US women’s soccer team inspiring girls and women all over the world, 18 year-old Bronxite Fatima Cham has dedicated much of her young life to have similar effect. According to News 12 the Bronx, because of her passion to empower women to be all they can, Coca-Cola gave her a $20,000 award for her college education.
Cham has completed more than two thousand hours of community service speaking to young girls about gender equality and inclusion. She then reported her work to the United Nations Foundation headquarters – one of only 25 women to do so.
“It’s really important for girls to know that your gender shouldn’t be a reason why you aren’t able to accomplish your goals,” said Cham.
