Einstein Gets $23 Million Grant for HIV Research

(Adobe Stock)

According to a report in 7th Space, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine has been awarded a $23 million grant by the National Institutes of Health to study HIV and other illnesses related to the infection.

The seven-year research grant, which will add to the work of two studies that separately looked at men and women with HIV, will focus more on the illnesses caused by the STD in 200 participants.

And, according to the co-principal investigator and professor of medicine at Einstein, this new track is vital because ‘the immune complications of HIV rarely kill people now – rather, it’s the advance of other diseases.’

The study will also look into what affect age, race, and ethnicity have on the STD, says 7th Space.
