Teddy Cars on Boston Road boasts of being the ‘huggable dealer’ and if you talk to technicians like Bronxite Kendrick Isaac you can see why that’s accurate. A 47 year-old family man from Antigua with a wife and three boys (one of whom also works for Teddy Cars), Isaac has a soft and friendly personality that makes him eminently huggable. He is also a top-notch auto tech expert whose greatest pleasure is pleasing Teddy customers.
“It’s a good feeling when a customer has an issue with a car and you can resolve the issue and help them,” he admitted to thisistheBronX during a short break in Teddy’s clean and well-organized repair shop. “Then you see the smiles on their faces. I get excited about that. I love doing that.”
One reason he gets to see those happy customers often is that he’s been well- trained. In addition to his own considerable background in auto mechanics from school and training in his home country before he left at the age of 19, he loves that Teddy Cars paid for additional training and made it easiest for him to attend classes by providing a car.
“We don’t compromise when it comes to supporting quality people,” said Teddy General Manager Julio Batista. “Like many of our 150 employees, Kendrick has been with us for years and instinctively understands our commitment to excellence in employee performance, customer experience, and also in the first-rate performance and safety of the quality vehicles we provide.”
Having just reached his ten-year anniversary with Teddy Cars, Isaac says he loves diagnosing. During the thisistheBronX visit he sorted out a Nissan Rogue that was having an issue with an airbag and seatbelt so that it was ready to get back on the street quickly.
When asked if Isaac was good at what he does, Service Manager Jaime Risso hesitated, and said, “Good? No, he’s great! He wouldn’t be working for me if he wasn’t great.”
