Showtime NYC has taken their game to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a special series. PIX 11 reported that the street dancers, known for their dances in subway cars and parks, are telling a new story with the help of the museum.
Part of the Met’s “Met Live Arts” series, the dancers, who hail from a group called Dancing in the Streets of the South Bronx. dress up in armor and, instead of fighting Middle Age style, compete in dance-offs. It was created with the help of the Arms and Armor Department at the Met.
In order to be in Showtime NYC, you have to be a street dancer. There are currently 20 dancers in the group, and will be performing next on February 8. Click here for the full schedule.
