Open a classroom door at the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center‘s (MMCC) Child Development Center at Van Cortlandt and you’ll know why the children are happy. They’re learning through play, developing the first seeds of social relationships, and they’re well cared for and guided by understanding professionals who know instinctively how to balance a child’s day so it’s productive and mostly fun.
Occupying two floors of the Van Cortlandt Jewish Center on Sedgwick Avenue, the Center also makes clever use of the rooftop, which was fenced in and outfitted with play equipment and little tricycles for outdoor play, a vital aspect of heathy child growth. (see video)
