“Birds are singing during the day / It’s enjoyable in the month of May / We children love to play outside” – Anneros Valensi (A playground in Germany where the author spent her childhood.  (photo: Wikimedia Commons)

by Anneros Valensi

The wind is blowing
It’s cold and flowers are not yet growing
Looking out the window I see the sun
What can I do to have some fun
I am going to take a hike
Come and join me if you like
Birds are singing during the day
It’s enjoyable in the month of May
We children love to play outside
It is spring, what a delight
Playing hopscotch and playing with a ball
Be careful that you don’t fall
Mother would call us in to have lunch
Wonderful, looking forward to getting something to crunch

Anneros Valensi and her family moved to Riverdale more than 40 years ago. Their two children went through the local public school system. They graduated from the Bronx High School of Science and created a good life for themselves. Anneros owned and loved her little Boutique in Riverdale, and former customers still stop her occasionally and chat. Then she studied writing and published her memoir “Where is Home” How a Childhood in East Germany during World War ll Shaped my Adult Life. This book was followed by “Finding Happiness in America”. Both are available on Amazon. This year 2018 Anneros’s dream came true. Her book “Where is Home” has reached International Best Seller status.
