Judge Stops ‘Morris Park Road Diet’ For Now

There’s an update to the controversial Morris Park Road Diet Plan, which plans to shave off driving space for bike lanes and make the road safer. Streetsblog NYC says that a judge has issued a temporary restraining order that will halt the Department of Transportation from implementing the plan.

This comes after backlash from community boards, leaders, residents, and a lawsuit from local business owners, who believe that narrowing roads will lead to more traffic congestion and less space for delivery trucks and/or emergency vehicles.

But according to Streetsblog, the city says that plans like this have been done multiple times like on Allerton Avenue where accidents went down by 50 percent.
